Dr. Margaret Bradshaw, renowned botanist and champion of Upper Teesdale’s rare plants for over sixty years, is, at the age of 95 undertaking a sponsored Trek for Teesdale Flora by riding 88km on Sigma, an Anglo-Arab pony – the distance signifies the boundary distance of the River Tees catchment area, where many of the rarest plants are found. The money raised will be used to conduct professional botanical surveys and trial conservation methods to protect habitats and stem the alarming rate of decline in some of the rare species.
Margaret's ride starts on Friday 2 July 2021, 2.00pm, at The Moorcock Inn, Eggleston, near Barnard Castle.
